It's kind of a funny story // setting

I've read up to part two in It's Kind Of A Funny Story and so far I'm very intrigued with the main character, Craig.  He lives in an appartment in Brooklyn. "We live in an apartment-a much better one then the Manhattan one, but still not good enough, not something to be proud of-in Brooklyn." (Vizzini 31). Craig lives with his mom, dad, and younger sister. He's in high school. Craig recently became very depressed and he is unsure as to why he's depressed. In the book Craig goes to a therapist and she tries to help him figure out why he was happy before but not now.

So far in the book there are a few different places Craig routinely goes to, his friend Aaron's house, school, home, and his therapists office. He likes to go to his friends house because it's simple and they just hang out. Craig likes things simple because he can't handle things that are too complicated. During dinner his mom talks about what she did during the day and he thinks, "I'm jealous of her. Can you be jealous of your mom for
being able to handle things? I couldn't take the day off, take a dog to the vet, and cook dinner. That's like three times too much stuff for me to get done in one day. How am I ever going to have my own house?" (Vizzini 42). There's also a similar scene in the movie which is below.
